Well long story short I had a LOT of algae before and it smothered a majority of my corals including my brain coral. It's edges was all covered in algae and I was too lazy to clean it and when I did I noticed a lot of tissue had receded. Been like this for awhile and it is not receding anymore I think. My algae is now almost in check with vodka/vinegar dosing. Should I chop off the dead part or let it regrow

Let it grow. If healthy it will eventually grow back over the old skeleton with a new one.

I would let it grow, just keep the edges clean from sand with some occasional turkey basting if needed. I would also feed the coral some pellets to help it bounce back - it's not looking like it's at 100% yet.

K I'll leave it alone. I normally just feed it reef roid mixed with phyto. Never knew they can swallow whole pellets because I never see a mouth
