I purchased my 55w compacts for my scrubber from Aquarium Pros. Mops also sells them.

John you can just go to Canadian Marine Aquarium Supply in your home town of Regina. He stocks most of the power compacts and will order anything else you like. Prices are identical to J&L. :razz:

You should know the address.

does anyone have the answer when the time comes to replace them,there are lots of advice on the net anywere from 6-18 months when do you replace yours ?

Here's what I found with some 36" PC tubes. I measured the output with a Lux meter, and found that half the output was gone after six months. That was more than I could put up with, so I stopped using PC's on two of my tanks. :eek:

what brand were they? do you think different brands have different life?

what did you replace the pc with? I"m thinkin of switching over to MH

They were the original Coralifes that came with the fixture. I don't thing different brands have longer life, but can't prove that.

I replaced them with 175W MH pendants on Icecap electronic ballasts :mrgreen:

I have not tried them yet but $10 US for a 55watt seems pretty good :)
