View Full Version : Anyone with a ballast that can fire up a 175W MH bulb?

I think one of my 175W MH bulbs is shot... which would explain why it won't fire up. However, my setup is new, and a faulty ballast can't be ruled out... although that ballast has the ability to fire up the other bulb that I have, so the chances of that are pretty slim. Does anyone have a working 175W ballast that I can test fire this bulb on? I would hate to return the thing, only to find out that I was a doofus.

Thanks!

I posted a wiring diagram for the M57 ballasts in your other topic in the DIY Forum.
Are you sure its hooked up correctly??

Thanks for posting. Yeah... I'm pretty sure I hooked it up properly. After seeing the diagram you posted up, I'm even more sure now. I can fire up this one bulb perfectly on both ballasts, its the other bulb I'm having problems with. I just want to confirm it.

I'd help ya out, even have a spare ballast lying aorund we could use .. but .. alas, wrong city. If you're down this way sometime soon though, drop me a line.

Maybe see if an LFS would be willing to fire the bulb over one of their tanks?

Thanks for the offers, I got it all figured out now... turns out the bulb needed a bit more extra burn-in time. I guess I jumped the gun when the first bulb was done burning in faster than the second one.
