I'm on the road at the moment, and, have stumbled into a store selling a barely used (looks new to me) PM Bullet-1 skimmer for $150 (USD, so really, about $220.)

I don't really have the money, but, this skimmer is $500 at J&L new.

Is this too good a deal to pass up?

Oh, I will be in soooo much trouble if I come home with a new reefing gadget ....

(Of course, looking at Tropical Storm Lily, maybe I aint coming home so soon anyways! At this point it looks like she is going to hit where I am, on the day I fly back to Calgary ... )

Yup, I'd do it. Then again, taking financial advice from someone with a reef tank might not be the best thing. But I'd still buy it.

Go for it... If you get into trouble for it you will be able to unload it on ebay with a bit of profit. ;) :D

It is easier to get forgiven, than to get permission.

Well the store closed at 8, so, can't move on it until tomorrow. My marriage is safe for another day :D

I'm kinda chickening out I think. I really ought to pay for my calcium reactor first. Ah, but, it's only money..

Would anyone want it? I could pick up for someone and bring it back maybe...

Hello,

You need to factor in the GST and PST they'd charge you at border crossing.

When you travel, you're allowed an exemption on goods if the total value is under a certain amount, when you come back and you have the stuff in hand. (Amount depends on how long you've been away)

PS. No PST in Alberta.. :D

To skim or not to skim, that is the question.

Or is it the title to a new thread?

Buy it! That is a good deal. You will not find a deal like that up here. Just remember to figure in the cost of a pump. You will be away for a long enough time to declare it under personnel exemtion. Just buy Linda something new too!
