I plan on coming to calgary and want to buy some cichlids. Other than Gold what would be the best place to buy fish from. I have time for probaly one more stop so i want to make it my best.

Okay South American and Tangayikan i dont think there is a store out there that carries only large or small cichlids i think they all have a selection. No offence but that was kinda a dumb question. Dont take an offence.

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread.

P.S. Mods can this be moved to the Calgary or Buy/Sell Forum?? I don't see a rating anywhere...

and want to buy some cichlids.

This is why I moved it to the BUY/sell forum. You said you wanted to buy something. When you want to buy something, it goes in the BUY/sell forum.

Was this before or after the 10 count, Brad.

Good restraint. Cheers.

golds has got to be one of the best
also try franco's who was on centre street a while ago then moved up to just off the deerfoot at mcknight i think (east of deerfoot)

if you want tanganyikans, i'm a little tired of my brichardii tank, they breed pretty regularly but i don't have the time or space to develop them properly

Thanks for the offer but no thanks. I can get them here. The more rare ones like the calvus cichlids are in Calgary. The main point of the trip is Discus. Also a bigger tank. Maybe some new filters i wiped open a big also book lastnight and seen some pretty cool stuff.

Go to Riverfront. They have many South American cichlids.
Good variety of discuss as well.

Hey there DOO-E i have found that in Manitoba theyhave most of the larger Cichlids here. IMO that is why i switched to SW there were some Cichlids i coulsn't get so i lost interest in the hobby .

P.S Hope you find the ones you want

Hey Doo-e, back when I had my african tanks I used to requent the Petlands on Macleod Tr. & 90th Ave, as well as the Shaughnessy location.
Their fish manager (Kirsta) is crazy about cichlids  and they do have quite a selection for reasonable prices. Beware of the "mixed" cichlid clearance tanks though, thats where they keep the inbread mutants  If there is any specific type you want to get as them to place it on their next order and they will aquire them for you. Good Luck!

Danny i dont want to place an order because if i Order X amount of fish they will only order X amount of fish. I would like a broader selection. I have already talked to a few stores about it. Gold has them so i will go from their. But for south americans i would like to know. Some firends told me they will take me to riverfront. I guess our LFS used to do coral orders from their and had hardly and die off. They said that they bought some corals from there and none have died.
