The answer was YES!

This project lasted about 3 months over the summer (overall about 7-10 work days). We first started by cutting out all of the existing grass and sprayed out what the outline of the pond would look like. From there we started digging. Overall about 3-4 days of 2-3 people shoveling got the job done. Rock was sourced from a friend of a friend. We hauled about 4 trailers full of huge rock upwards of 500+lbs each. All hand bombed, rolled and rock-slinged. Pond felt was placed in the shaped areas and then the pond liner placed on top. After all of the rock was in place we connected the return pump and filled it.

Huge thanks to Dez, Way (Dad) and Mandie for all the help. It was a crazy grind to get completed but the result is exactly what we wanted.

Awesome! If you ever feel like building one 10x that size, come down to my acreage. I am thinking of building one next year. I have a friend who runs a landscaping company so I'll have all the heavy equipment required, I just don't know where to start in terms of design and required filtration.

I'd do that too, but it would cost a fortune! My yard is about 60 x 100 and I would love to do away with grass :)

I would most certainly follow that thread! I hope you do it.

Lol!

The lack of stairs will be replaced by a small dock that goes to the middle of the pond. No clue how that's going to work yet...

how are you keeping the five fingered critters out?

Looks awesome bud
Keep the pics coming

How'd you go about planning it ?

I've heard you can get 'sticks' from cannuck tire that deter raccoons and such via some kind of 'frequency'

Good luck with your new Oasis

wow, very nice! Looking forward to the rest of the landscaping for it all to come together ! And don't forget the diving board off the deck. Looks like you've provisioned a spot for it already. Well thought out !

Thanks all!

I'm hoping the center shelf being 23" deep will give the fish a safe place to hide. Otherwise I'm hoping not to clutter the yard with fences and electronics.

The plan that was drawn up completely went out the window (was originally bigger) and we really just dug it out as we went. Doing it by shovel really allows you to shape the shelves.
