View Full Version : What would you do with the cash? (Albertans)

As most Albertans know... our province is essentially debt free. I've heard rumours that our surplus after the debt is paid off could range anywhere from 5-10 billion dollars. At the high end, that would be 3000 bucks per Albertan. For a minute now, lets pretend that we're optimists and that we all get a cheque for 3000 bucks... what would you do with it!?

Please, no debating about gov't policy and stuff, that kind of thing always ruin threads.

Pay off some of my student loan. Dear God though I hope Ralph doesn't do something inane like that. He should three-lane Highway 2 from Edmonton to Calgary is what he should do.

I think saskatchewan is rectifying their insanely large debt by raising property tax... WOO go ndp go!

I agree that the surplus should be put into better use (ie. reducing tuition, benefits, etc.).

However, that aside, what would I do? Besides that "Tim Allen" sized skimmer (that thing is probably bigger than my sump!), I'd probably set aside 1000 bucks to upgrade my slowly dying computer... the rest, I'd put away for a rainy day... because I seem to get hit hard on those days.

 Tim Allen skimmer.....

I'd spend it once before I got it, and once after as usual.

We got a $3000 cheque from Ralphie once for tornado induced stress. (KISS KISS) We went to Tofino on that one.

Dang, and here I thought it would be a grand gesture to spread the wealth around the country a bit instead of hording all  It's only by fluke we landed in the province with so much oil revenue....

I'd just throw it on top of the pile.( I wish, that joke is for teevee) I'd pay off debt. To ruin the thread, I hope they don't do that. But I do hope I won 26mil. on super 7 tonight!

Kari, you thinking you'd go acrylic on your next tank? Just about to buck up for a new 250-300 gal. and never really considered acrylic, why acrylic?
My worry would be I'd scratch the shat out of it.

Dave

Sorry to high jack the post, but free money not going to happen.

I was just being sarcastic about acrylic prices.
No I wouldn't go acrylic on a reef tank either since coraline would be a real PITA.

Now that's a controversial statement if I've ever heard one. We should start a seperate thread on this in order to avoid ruining this one.

On another note, I just realized my first post made it sound like I don't want the government paying off my loan. What I meant was, I'd rather the government didn't hand each of us $3,000.
