Question...

Both LFS stores in town only sell Coralife Flourescents and charge a pretty penny for them too I've always been told to steer away from them as they are crap lights are they really crap or is it based on personal opinion? What would you recommend for T5 lights?

I purchase online. J&L or goreef. Even with shipping still best prices.

Most people go for ATI. I have used them before and found them to be very good. A popular bulb is the blue+ as it has huge PAR and a really nice colour to make corals glow.

Giesmann and KZ bulbs also have a good rep but tend to be a little more expensive.

There are a number of canadian retailers online that sell these bulbs. Also BRS in the states has pretty good prices. I've even had luck on eBay with them too.

Ati definatly is the best choice, but I've also been reading a lot of good things about wave point bulbs and they are cheap from reef supply canada
