I've got an MP40W that I bought used with only a spacer up to a 1/2". I have 5/8" glass. It says on the back of it "please use other spacer for 5/8" glass or greater. Anyone know where one would acquire a spacer for glass that thick?

I beleive they're talking bout that circular rubber piece that comes with your vortech. That's all I used and it worked great.

Mine has a rubber part on the dry side that you pull off the motor and rotate it so that the power cord lines up with the thickness of the glass they have written on the rubber part. Then you push the rubber part back on the dry side.

Your Pin Spacer for an MP40 should have an option for 5/8" glass;http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii30/EdReef/Vortech08.jpg

This one only goes up to 1/2". There's a spot right on there that says "for 5/8" glass please use the larger spacer" which I don't seem to have anywhere.

Doesn't seem right. I have 3 MP40's and although they're a few years old now, each has the spacer as pictured by tparsons in his post. Can't see EcoTech changing something like this on an established design and not giving folks a heads up or amending the owner's manual. Nevertheless, you have the pump & if it doesn't provide the 5/8 option, I guess you'll need another spacer. Alternatively, since the 1/2" is on your spacer, you could try running it without the spacer since the standard ones that do have the 5/8" option say to remove it when using on 3/4" glass.

Any history on the used pump from the original owner?

Not to my knowledge but he worked at a local saltwater store here so I assumed he knew what he was talking about.

Interesting. I had a closer look at your photo & the instructions on your sticker say 'For 5/8" and/or (hard to see) 3/4" wall thickness do not use this spacer....'. No mention of an 'other' spacer. Have you tried running them on your tank? All the manuals I have, even some older archived ones from 2008 don't show a sticker like yours, so your dry sides are either very ancient or someone's been messing with the stickers?? I'd have another talk with the fellow that sold them to you and also contact EcoTech directly. They're usually very helpful & might be interested in seeing this photo.

Actually Trina from Reef Wholesale has been working with me on it and talking to Ecotech directly for me. Sounds like they're just a really old model and just require the new spacer which she's located for me too. She's been very helpful.
