Hey guys I got this long tenticle plate coral last week and he's been looking like this ever since. Is this normal? Mouth wide open n tents not expanding.

Try increasing its feeding also what can help is a half cut pop bottle over it and feed in the top so other things don't get the food, they do look like that before death but its one of the corals that can recover rather quickly if given the right water and food

Mine did that randomly a few months ago after having it for like 4 months with no problems i feed it more for like a week and its all back to normal

Very low survival rates in captivity

What you need to check is if there is any tear on the edges. Try to move his location to a gentle flow area and check the bottom to make sure no bristle worm is eating the flesh. You also want to check at night if there's any crab bugging the coral

duuno sum1 delivered it to me. But in the pic he showed me it was fully expanded. My stupid cleaner shrimp does rip at him when i try to feed it. i only fed it once with some mysis mixed with phyto and reef roid

Cut a pop bottle top off and feed it like that for a bit it will keep the strong flow off it crabs and shrimp away give it time to heal

Do I just leave the pop Bottle there till it's healed or only when feeding is done

I left mine in the tank for a bit doesn't hurt and gives it the chance to heal

i keep my feeding tube in the tank when i feed my acans and i chase off the fish for prob 20 min allowing the corals to completely consume the food. you could also do this if you're willing to deal with the inconvenience.

also make sure your shrimp aren't tearing at it at night. my peppermints got ousted for this very reason.
