So after having one rock in my tank that was from a LFS since January, I knew that a porcelain crab hitchhiked his way in. I just noticed today that there are actually two, I've just never seen them both out at the same time, until now. They both are blue and spotted, but one has pink under its claws while the other is white. Anyways, that got me thinking, is there any chance that porcelain crabs can successfully have offspring in the tank?

I would think it's probably the same as with shrimp and clownfish and others that readily reproduce: they'll spawn just fine, having the babies live longer than a few minutes and survive the insane feeding frenzy is probably the real challenge..

These ones of yours sound pretty, can you manage any photos so I can live vicariously through you - please and thank you!! The few times I've heard that any were available for sale at a LFS I'm usually WAY too late and it was a "well there was one last week or whatever but it sold already" kinda thing..

I can definitely try to get some pictures. It might take a while as they stay really close to the opening of the most awkwardly angled cave in the rock.

Although they are shy, when I do see them they are usually doing something hilarious. I had one get mad at my bumblebee snail that tried pushing its way into the cave, and it just grabbed it and chucked it out into the sand. The one with the pink claws seems to like hanging upside down and then flailing his big claws around trying to grab pellets and flakes. He even steals mysis from the snails and runs away with it.

Sorry about the horrid quality. My lights were off and my actual camera was having a hell of a time focusing. Opted for Iphone pics.

It's hard to see his colouring, but this one is the teal one with spots and pink under his claw. He is in the back left corner of that big cave.

And a shrimp photobomb.
