Hi I am looking for a frag of this coral that Quinn had.

Please PM me if you have one you would like to sell or see if I have any Acro you want to trade. Thanks

Dave

I have the parent colony that came off, if you can't find a frag.

I believe, but don't quote me on this, that there may be some frags of it in AJ_77's tank that he might be pursuaded to trade or sell, perhaps drop him a line and see what he says.

Thanks Tony, I guess it should now be called Tony's Yellow Tipped Purple Monster

Does the mother colony look the same as the picture? If so what lights do you have it under?

Thanks

Dave

Technically the coral in Alan's tank is Jonathan's and at some point in time I do need to take it to Jon. Sorry Alan, you can take a piece if you want though.

As with any coral, it's debatable as to how well this piece will keep its colour under other lights. I had two seperate pieces originally from Tony's tank, and you would have never known they were the same animal. Lighting and placement seems to make all the difference.

Thanks Quinn, I guess I better suck up to Tony then.

What king of lighting did you have and where was it placed if you don't mind telling me?

Thanks

Dave

To be honest, no, my parent colony doesn't look like the one's in Quinn's picture. My tank is currently lit by Iwasaki's (6500K) and although the purple is evident in the coral, it's not as evident as pictured.

The best results I've had myself were 10,000K in my other tank. Really nice and purple and fairly solidly throughout.

I'm sure under 20,000K it'd look pretty sweet too.

It grows fast, and I think it wouldn't take all that long for it to adjust its colours to different lighting.

I can attest to that.

It's grown in my tank in the short time its been here. Hardy too, survived shipping :)

I had mine under 400w Ushios, the one in the photo about 18" below the bulb, I suppose. The other one I had was farther away. Comparison photos (sorry for the insane file size, I'm at work with no Photoshop):

Quinn,
That coral that you speak of that is "in Alan's tank" is actually now in it's home in my tank  Alan dropped it off a week ago.
