I have a 50 g tank and would like to drill 2 holes for a herbie overflow and 1 hole for return.

1. What sizes of the holes should I drill? 3/4" or 1"?
2. Where can i get the drill bites to make the holes?
3. Where should the holes be located?

I also want to paint the back glass to black. Should I paint the glass first or drill the hole first?

I also need an overflow box. Where can I buy black acrylic in Vancouver area to make the box?

Thanks

1. You need to decide on what size bulkheads you are going to use and then the corresponding hole size.

2. Most home improvement stores, Princess Auto and some of the online aquarium supply stores.

3. Can't help a lot on this one.

I would paint it after.

Check out this ad for an overflow box already made.

Paul,

I've loaned out my drill bits but can get them back or you can pick them up and bring them to my place & I can drill your tank for you. I should also have some black acrylic pieces somewhere & I'll see if I can find them.

I am not in a hurry, Anthony.

I will re-seal the tank first. I will bring the tank to your place for drilling after that.

Thanks

OK. I will look for the black acrylic pieces in the meantime.
