With that price range you can easily get 2 used Radions, or like mentioned above a new Mazspect razor. I think it depends on how much light you want to put down and the unique spectrum you are looking for. Specific LED fixtures will have certain colors in their fixtures while some may have more than others its really what you think you want the spectrum to look like.

Heard great things about radion just didn't know I could get 2 for under 1000 , honestly I loved the blue from the Phoenix bulbs so closer to the 14k, pretty much what ever people get better results with , if anyone is selling used led radion feel free to msg me :)

Yup, you can easily get gen 2 Radions for around 400 bucks each, I was selling mine but I took it back since I needed it for another tank. The nice thing is since the gen 3s are coming out, die hard Ecotech fans will be selling their previous set ups and as used market quantities goes up pricing will only go down! The gen 2s have a nice crisp blue to it, I really like how it looks, if you have 2 it should cover most of the hard shadows generated by the fixtures.

Chat with Nick at reefsupplycanada.com I think he has some lights in the works that would fit the bill for a very good price.

I'd probably go with the aqua illumination fixtures.

Aqua Illumination
Maxspect
Kessil A350-60w
Giessman Futura (just released a new one with a lot of different LED colors)

All fit your budget! I personally wasn't impressed with AI customer service in Canada. Mainly because I had a brand new unit that did not work, and they promptly sent me a new one at the cost of about $80 for shipping/customs fees. Their warranty does not cover shipping to Canada.

cause its been said many times before.. You get what you pay for. Sure the chinese knock offs produce light, and sure stuff looks good under it. But if you think thats impressive imagine what you would think if you got a higher end led. Not to mention I'm sure the high end lights have better long term results.

thx everyone for the info ! and i looked at some fellow reefers tanks today using radion g2 and he couldnt express how much he has to frag cause the growth is just amazing !, cant argue with a man whos tank looks better then anything in the aquarium. but jason604 i do know tons of reefers on canreef who use chinese lights and again have amazing tanks growing sps is no problem with them , im really leaning on the radion just from the full spectrum it gives out so just fishing for some used ones now ! but please do link links on some lights im open minded thanks everyone!

until i see someone on this forum plumb the 2 exact same tanks to the same sump with frags from the exact same mothers in near identical spots with only cheap and ballin lights as a difference. With pics of atleast 6 months of time span changes that show that the more exp. light has better growth and color then the other and i will smash my lights, record it for u guys and buy a expensive one lol

I would highly recommend Radeon or Aqua Illumination over the Maxspect.

Maxspect creates hard shadows and your sps will begin to recede.

Too much disco effect on Maxspect.

My preference is Radeon but Aqua Illumination is nice too.

I'm sure you can find two used Radeons G1 or Perhaps G2 for $1000.

I'd like to see evidence of recession from maxspects, I have a few fixtures running and have yet to see recession. I get good growth and amazing color out of everything I have under my maxspect

I'd like to see evidence of recession from maxspects,

Me too :) Because the shadows are too hard? Seriously? Wonder what a point source light like MH would do to a poor SPS coral

+1 on those, Had the Evergrow D120s for a year now with great results.

^ This is the reason I never comment on these LED threads anymore and am getting really sick of the elitism of this hobby.

I have these "Chinese knock offs" and they work amazing. I actually bought them because of another forum where someone has been using these for the last 3-4 years. Few other users of these same fixtures came forward with there pictures and results and I was very impressed.

These fixtures are great and have proven long term results you just have to look rather than assume unless its a brand name with a high price its not worth it.

So unless you mean you get what you pay for in extra gadgets I dont believe that statement to be true at all.

Evergrow D120s work great (Same as the TaoTronics) Nick at www.ReefSupplyCanada.ca has them and hes great to deal with. IMO best bang for the buck if you want a light which wont break the bank.
