rock rubble as substrate

I was thinking of adding 1-2" rock rubble as substarte. what are your thoughts on this?

i did this for my ric garden area to give them something to cling to. the rubble does collect detritus but i just detail the area during my turkey baster rounds.

not sure i'f want my whole tank like that however.

Because I'm not a big fan of sand and I hate bare bottom. So I figured a rock rubble bottom. Heavy enough that I can blow it out weekly with a powerhead. Not to mention makes it very easy for fragging and coral spreading.

I don't see any problem then. Like Brett said, detritus can accumulate in there - but if you're looking after that, should be good.:smile:
I would advise against putting any LPS on that kind of substrate. It could irritate their membranes.
Soft corals such as leathers would probably be alright. If they got too tall though, they would probably tip over.

I also hated bare bottom and sand alike.

Thats where tile came in
