Found this in my reef tank. Have no clue what it is. It feels like sand paper. Can you ID it please.

3-D alien crop circles in your sand. I'd be careful and wear a tinfoil hat if I were you!

The ribbon shape makes me think nudibranch eggs but I don't know of any that incorporate sand. Then again I don't know a lot about nudi's.

Let us know if you are still alive in days/weeks after touching it :twised: <twilight theme song>

(if you are still alive, I might want some of it LOL)

This deserves a bump, wth?? If it feels like sandpaper, do you think it's actually some sort of burrow that a creature made for itself using the sandy bottom? Perhaps it lives under the sand bed?!

My best guess would be something spawned.

That's what the eggs are from. I did some research and this is what I learned. I bought the snails from a local store as Nassarius Snails. Obviously they are not and now I need to find them and remove them. GERRRRR.....

I'd highly doubt that these are actually Euspira lewisii. (now classified as "Lunatia lewisii")

Lunatia lewisii's egg casing are at least 6" across.
The actual snail gets larger then you fist.
As well, its mantle comes up and covers half of its shell (like a cowrie)
so it is visually unique.

What you have definitely looks like a an egg case, and may have come from your new snails.

But I highly doubt they are Lunatia lewisii.
