Just wanted to put up a few pics of my modded aqueon evolve 8. I had initially purchased the tank as a FW, however after a day of deliberation, I decided to turn it into a nano reef. I have listed the mods made, as well as what is currently in the tank. It has been running approx. 3 weeks now.

Mods:
Filtration = Live Rock and Live Sand (both from 5 year old established reef tank).
Pump = Eheim 2000 Compact pump
Koralia Nano 240
Pretty basic Heater
Lighting = Coralife 11 inch mini aqualight + 1 Truelumen 12,000K White LED strip (looking to upgrade lighting, and would be open to suggestions).
Removed Acrylic lid and replaced it with glass top (mis-matched size, but it helps eliminate evaporation).

CUC:
2 Red Leg Hermits
2 Blue leg Hermits
1 Nassarius Snail
3 Bumble Bee Snails

Corals (looking for some help identifying some of them):
Favia Coral
Porite coral
Leather Coral
Red Mushrooms
2 frags (not sure on the species to be honest)... hoping to get some help on IDing these two.

2nd Coral I am not sure of:

Sorry for the poor picture quality, most pics were taken with my Cell, while others are taken with my point and shoot. I will be taking some updated pictures with my DSLR as the tank continues to progress and I finish up the last few mods (upgraded lighting and a small protein skimmer).

Thanks for looking.

Rob

Thanks, I will be going out today on my lunch break and will be exchanging the T5 lighting for something better. Hopefully I will have pics up tonight with all of the changes.

Also I should note that I have been doing 20% water Changes every week.

So far I am quite happy with this build, however considering how much I have spent so far modding this thing, I probably could have just bought a traditional All in one for far less. Last count I believe I am up to about $350.00 not including the tank, LR, or Corals. And I am still looking for a small protein skimmer and better lighting.

Thanks,

Rob

Just found this in my tank today, and wanted to know if anyone knew what it was, and if it is harmful. I hate to admit it, but it is pretty cool. it's a clear tube like thing attached to the underside of one of my live rocks, and it stretches out pretty far (probably a good 1-1.5 inches) and seems to just be eating algae off the rock below it.

Let me know if this is cause for concern or if it would be ok to leave it in there.

Thanks for your help!
