Hi all, so my tank is only two months old and its a 75g, i been noticing i have to top off my sump with RO water everyday about 2L worth, i was just wondering what everyone experiences were, how much is everyone toping up daily and if there were any mods you guys have done to slow down the water top off

It varies from tank to tank (humidity, temperature, etc.). My tank do 10 gallon every week so yours is nothing compared to mine (mine is a 70 gallon).

Your tank is pretty typical. Really the only thing you can do is put glass or acrylic covers on your tank top and sump but this can cause other problems: reduced light to corals, more cleaning to do, potentially reduced air water contact area.

Most reefers just deal with it and rig up an auto top off system that draws from a reservoir that you only have to refill maybe once per week.

Personally my system loses between 6-8 litres every day!

this weekend i added a 90 degree elbow to my protein skimmer outtake and its seems to be working, i have noticed less salt creep and less air bubbles in the sump, i though of adding a filter sock on the down pipe to further help reduce salt creep

Switch over to a herbie drain, no bubbles

I have to top off roughly 8 gallons in my 1000 gallon system, 4-5 gallons in my 220 system, and a litre in my 65 gallon system.
I just add it every morning.

About 30g every 14-16 days for me on my 75g.

No idea as mine is now automated, but when it was manual, running MH lighting, about 5g per day.

I have an approximate total water volume of 550g and my tank needs about 2-3g/day in the summer and I'm thinking a bit more in the winter, around 4g/day.

144 gallon display, 50 gallon sump

I use about 3 gallons a day

Mine is low because as others have mentioned, surface agitation increases evaporation.

I use a Beananimal overflow so no bubbles and my skimmer vents under water so again ... no bubbles. I have virtually no salt creep in my sump and area.

I use about 8 gallons a week on a 24"x24" tank.
While the wife's jbj with 150 halide is 2/3 liters a week. But it's covered

I'm expecting my volume to double as this week I'm putting halide back on my tank

On my 150g tank I go through roughly 8-10g every 5 days. Evaporation is normal, but there are people who dislike it and try very hard to reduce or minimize it. I on the other hand welcome the evaporation and try to use it to my advantage. That is, I use evaporation as a means to help keep my tank cool. I have a completely open display tank with fans that blow across the surface of my water to increase evaporation when the tank gets hot during the mid day.

Auto-top off systems are your friend. If you're manually adding top up water that does get annoying fast. Get a reservoir to hold your top up water and buy an auto-top up system. There are lots of them on the market.

I have a 20 gallon garbage can for my ATO I fill that up once a month for my 95 gallon tank

I have an ato with a 5 gallon water container. The 5 gallon lasts me between 7-10 days on a 90 gallon with 30 gallon sump. DT is covered. Winter air is usually a little drier so I'm not sure how many gallons I'll go through in the coming months. I might bump my ato up to 10g for convenience.

Back when I had my 2 90s, I had a reservoir of about 15 to 20 gals plastic bin, I had to top it off every 3 to 4 days, that got annoying very fast like someone said it here. On my new 260G build, I went completely automated, now I have a floating arm that connected straight into my water filter. I just do a bit of maintenance every month or so and I forget about it.
