Anyone know a good affordable place we can get security cameras for our house? Or an installer? Any info would be great as this is a bit of a priority for us.
Thanks

Not sure if they're a good price but I remember a few weeks ago Costco had a very impressive looking full home setup for around 700 dollars. The website starts off expensive but near the bottom there are nice looking kits for 500ish dollars.

Costco has a few different systems online that I have been eying.

I went to a few commercial installers and they wanted thousands to install what is offered at Costco for $300.

For residential, all you really need are some dropcam's.

They are HD quality and the video footage is stored on the cloud so even if the camera is stolen, you still have the footage.

I know Costco always sells great home security cameras with multiple cameras, and as far as I know they are a DIY kind of application from them. Maybe worth checking out

I know someone else that does installs I'll try and get his name and number and post as soon as I get it.

Some people use these for viewing their tanks while out of town too, which is sweet!

FOSCAM canada has good selection of cheaper cameras that you can access through internet and has several different platforms for android or apple devices. I bought the F9821W for my tank and its pretty awesome. Camera cost me around $120, pretty easy set up. Check it out.

I bought three Foscams myself. The pan-tilt one works pretty good but the software REALLY sucks for them. Each device comes with its own dynamically updated URL and the video quality is decent.

My workplace operates over 100 q-see cameras from Costco. They are a very good system for the ultra low price point compared to other DVR systems.

Highly recommend.

We were actually considering the Costco cameras, nice to know they are worth the investment. How is the quality of the recordings, its one thing to have a system, its another to be able to use the footage as evidence. Any concerns with quality?

There are different generations of cameras and kits available from QSee. We use some of the older ones, and the picture quality isn't the best (still good to id a person), but QSee does offer better cameras. The important piece of the system is really the DVR, and being able to easily use it. Cameras can always be replaced, added, or upgraded. We use high quality panasonic cctv cams for entrances, then the QSee cameras for movement capture.

I had a system installed in our business from the Surveillance Shop in Calgary.
High definition video, and it can be pricey.
It was a few years ago, maybe they have more affordable setups available now.

I bought 2megapixel ip cameras online. They're not cheap but the quality is amazing and the night vision is perfect.
