Most people do a weekly or biweekly water change of 15-20% that way you replenish lost trace elements in your water and help keep your tank in good condition water wise

5g in 75 is pretty much pointless, IMO. I'd do minimum 25 biweekly.

every week i do add trace elements, i guess thats why my tanks have always done ok, but im wanted to start the water changes more frequently

Unless you're testing for them and know they're lacking, I wouldn't bother. A good biweekly water change will take care of that for you.

Quick question, when u guys say 15-20% wc. Is that display volume or total volume of system? I have a 65 with a 40 b sump , how much would u change?

Total volume. Figure in rock displacement, sump isn't full, etc. For you, I'd say 20-25g biweekly.

I try to do 20g every 2-3 weeks. I find my lps react better with more frequent changes. I have a 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump so I round it off to 100 gallon total to account for rock and sand displacement.
