:) catchy title? Seriously though I got my one free crab with every purchase of live rock!

I caught the little beggar in his piece of live rock. I err'd on the side of caution and yanked him but if someone can ID him and he's harmless he can go back home.

Looks like a regular old rock crab. Toss it.

Yeah I think so. I was going to put him in my sump but I don't think I could get him out again without great effort. The front pincers were jet black and very long and pointy. Eyes are hidden and there are very small bristles on the shell.

This is a normal reef inhabitant.
If you are concerned put her in the sump where her frequent spawning provides miniscule food that your corals need in a normal reef setting.

I've always left those in tank, I've never had a problem.

If the claws are pointed, it's bad news. If the tips of its claws are flat it's an algae/detritus eater. If you're unsure, sump it.

Yeah his claws are very pointy and I'm sure the ID as a rock crab was right. He's in a bucket at the moment but will go into the sump as soon as I get home. He can keep the sump clean for me.

Got a free anemone from gold's too :) guess which kind??

A shot of lemon juice and five peppermint shrimp and that's taken care of.
